About Physical Therapy Department

The Department of Physical Therapy is one of the five departments in the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences. It was established in the year 1424 H / 2003 G to prepare graduates trained in Physical Therapy in order to satisfy the needs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to fulfil the great demand in the Health Care Community. The first batch of students (Male and Female) admitted to the B.Sc. Program in Physical Therapy was in the year 1425 H / 2005 G.

The B.Sc. program in Physical Therapy offers courses in Physical Therapy background, equipment, modalities and therapeutic interventions as well as clinical courses that include therapeutic techniques in different pathological conditions. This is done to provide sound academic background needed for study and practice of modern Physical Therapy procedures in hospitals and health care centres.

The revised curriculum was newly implemented and it was the outcome of the hard work of all the staff members and members of the curriculum committee. As there is no national education policy yet available regarding competency standards for entry-level Physical Therapy; local, regional and international B.Sc. programs in Physical Therapy were reviewed and incorporated the necessary modifications during each stages of the revision of the curriculum since 2003 G. This new curriculum is especially dedicated to all the staff members of the Physical Therapy Department, the members of curriculum committee in the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences and to those who have spent a considerable time in preparation of the original course description version of the Physical Therapy Program.
